Spain & Gillon has negotiated development agreements or tax sharing agreements for over twenty large developments in the last five years. In addition, we provide clients with comprehensive legal services necessary for the successful completion of a project including, condemnation, zoning, land use and redevelopment matters, environmental permitting assistance, negotiation of project manager-general contractor agreements and contractor packages, resolution of disputes that arise during construction, and assistance in complying with local, state and federal tax laws.
In addition to our economic development practice, Spain & Gillon attorneys have served as counsel for tax-exempt and taxable transactions totaling more than $600 million over the last six years. Our attorneys regularly serve as bond counsel and disclosure/underwriter’s counsel, and have experience issuing debt for municipalities, counties, state authorities and boards, housing authorities, healthcare authorities, boards of education, local public corporations, 501(c)(3)s and development zones.
These financings include financing for various public improvements including, public housing, single family and multifamily housing, public schools and institutions of higher education, water and sewer systems, industrial development, healthcare facilities and various economic development projects.
