Biography
Richard has practiced civil litigation for over 20 years. A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Richard earned his B.A. with a double major in English and Sociology from Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C., where he graduated magna cum laude. He received his J.D. from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law. Richard is a former Assistant Attorney General for the State of Alabama, where he represented various state officials and practiced civil rights litigation and constitutional law in the Attorney General’s Civil Division. At Spain & Gillon, L.L.C., Richard concentrates his practice defending individuals and corporations accused of various torts, including intentional torts, wrongful death, negligence, products liability, and premises liability.
Richard is also well versed in labor and employment law, as well as workers’ compensation defense litigation. Richard has successfully defended cases involving a variety of tort and employment law issues in both state and federal court.
